A well-told story is the crowbar which opens the reader’s soul and lets them see the truth you see. Not by yelling your message at them, but by deftly weaving it into your character’s story. Their “Aha!” moments come when they realize they can do something about it. Your character is going to have an aha moment, which will inspire thought (and maybe even an aha moment) in your reader. Kids are often quick to want to do something about it. When they are made aware of the needs in the world, their hearts will fill with compassion. The Holy Spirit works on the hearts of kids as much as adults. Often such needs are only presented to the adults in our churches. Talk about kids who have to live with no hope. Talk about those who don’t have food to eat, clothes to wear, or clean water to drink. Talk about those who don’t have the opportunity to hear the gospel message freely. You can lead the kids in your church to see and understand the great needs in the world. Let them share the excitement you feel.Ĭhildren’s pastors can help as well. Tell them what God revealed to you and how you are acting on it. Model the behaviors that your “Aha!” moments have led you to do. Parents can foster it by sharing their own “Aha!” moments with their kids. But how can you instigate such “Aha!” moments in the spirits of your children? This kind of “Aha!” moment is a special blessing, not just to the kids in your children’s church but also to those who receive the benefit of missions giving. ![]() Many such testimonies revolve around the kids’ missions giving, when they realize that their offerings translate into lost souls being led to Jesus and their sacrifices are helping to bring Jesus’ message to someone on the other side of the world. In fact, kids are always learning so many new things about life that their “Aha!” moments come frequently.Īs children’s pastors, we often get reports about kids’ “Aha!” moments. When was your last aha moment? How did you respond? This week be very intentional to hear the quiet voice of God, whether it’s a whisper in your heart, a Scripture you read, an incident you witness or an experience you have.Have you ever had an “Aha!” moment? Chances are, you have. It’s how you react to those very particular important moments in time – those powerful moments – that determine how you will use your own aha moment. ![]() One thief responded stubbornly, and the other decided to be very humble. We can choose one of these two reactions when something is revealed to us by God or someone else. Answering the first thief, the second rebuked him and said, “Do you not even fear God seeing you are under the same condemnation?” Then he said to Jesus in our verse today, “Lord, remember me when you go into the kingdom today.” He saw Jesus as the Son of God and the Savior of the world. One of the criminals blasphemed Jesus saying, “If you are the Christ, save yourself and us,” but on the other side of Jesus, the second thief had an aha moment. He was crucified in the middle with a thief on either side of him. The Bible is full of examples of those powerful moments God used to reveal how people can be in the same situation, see the same thing, have the same aha experience and make two different choices.įor example, Jesus hung on one of three crosses. Maybe it’s sitting in a class or small group where you’re learning something, or perhaps it happens when you’re reading Scripture, or you’ve gone through a bad experience and all of a sudden you have a moment of realization of something you didn’t know before. And he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.” And he said to him, “Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.”Īn aha moment is a sudden moment in time when you experience a realization, an inspiration, a recognition, some sort of comprehension of something that you didn’t know before. ![]()
